After a look on ebay at the "buy in now" prices for things under $500 with more then 128mb of ram it limited it down. looks like the best for under 500aud not including postage is

Dude - $400 AUD is nothing. According to xe.com it's £166.13 GBP or $313.08 USD. I wish you luck getting any kind of decent computer, let alone laptop for that price. I paid £1,300 for my laptop - That's $3,129.52 AUD!

$400 is worth P2 1,1 MHz 10 GB hdd 20 GB HD =))) Something around that.

I have a laptop for sale.
Its a toshiba satellite
400mhz amd processor
128 ram
dvd rom/ cd drive
floppy drive
14.1 lcd
network card

win 98 installed
laptop runs great.
the only problem with it is it has 1 usb port and my wife broke it a few weeks ago.
I have seen replacement usb ports but havent got a chance to get one.
I purchased it for 375$
will sell for 275$
it is hard to find a cheap laptop with dvd rom drive.

also comes with laptop bag
