I was thinking of registering words in other languages lately.
I tried to register 游戏程序.com ("games" in chinese) on Godaddy, but it said there where character problems, so I went to Moniker.
I registered the domain, but in domain administration panel, my domain looks like this:
XN--8WTU1F26N80L.COM

Also, I made some searches on baidu.com, all domains returned have latin chars. Could anyone here explain a little more why don't engines crawl domains that use chinese char set, what's the SEO impact, and why my domain name looks like that?

Your domain looks like that because thats the character code for "games" in chinese. It still is 游戏程序.com in chinese, but it just comes across with the letters and numbers when you see it. You can think you have 2 domains in 1. :p

but what about seo issues? is it any good? When a Chinese type 游戏程序 in Baidu, why don't chinese char domains come first?

I think it depends on the computer/browser that is loading the page. Do you have all the needed Chinese character sets installed...? In what you typed above there is a "?" and that may indicate there is a problem (unless it's with my PC)...

When I enter 築 at baidu.com I get back chinese character results.

"When I enter 築 at baidu.com I get back chinese character results." - even domain names results are in Chinese?

Hmmm, no they all look like normal domain names like www.jxej.cn/.

I didn't see any IDN domain names in the results, at least no in the URLs.

I tried putting quotes around "筑.com" and got some results like this, 如水@筑.com but no IDN URLs under the listings. Try using quotes and see what you get.

exactly! So, why is this? why are the url results in latin chars, and not in chinese chars? I can't seem to find any url that has chinese chars in it.

My Chinese is getting rusty, I think this means game rules or something like that. I'm not pulling up your site, and I have Chinese loaded in my windows.

I've searched for several Chinese character domains and only some of them remains in characters on the address bar after the site has loaded. Really odd.

Well, Perhaps the IDN is not used that much in China yet...? I guess I would try to find a big site that has a IDN and then do some searches with a quoted char string from the site to see if you can find a listing for it. If you do and the Domain is in Latin chars, then that is the main domain they are using, I think... At that point I would assume the IDN is used as an additional, parked domain.
