What are the essential and non-essential information to put on a Domain Landing Page?

Is there any clear winner as to which marketplace has the best landing pages. With examples and why?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
As it is built with the latest technology, we don't use hosting, there are no hosting fees
Huh? What does that mean?

If it's still too expensive we decided to accept also monthly instalment payments.
Even with monthly payments, it's still quite expensive. Efty is pretty cheap, and Squadhelp is offering a similar marketplace solution for free. So $997 is expensive in comparison. And most people would still want to use an escrow service (which is why this product integrates with Dan, Escrow, etc) so those fees are there either way.

We use Netlify to deploy the code from Github. Netlify is very secure, they are trusted buy highly responsible companies: https://www.netlify.com/security/
You can’t compare Netlify with tradition web hosting that provide CPANEL because they are entirely different things. Netlify is solely based on serverless architecture, with your html, js, and css (aka the website you see) sit on distributed CDN which make them fast to be fetched.

On top of this we are using GatsbyJS which leverages the power of React, relying on solid Modern Javascript foundation used by companies such as Paypal, Bitcoin.com, Sendgrid...

Gatsby sites are safe and fast. Other than this we can do many great fancy stuff that the boys are doing.

Can you explain what you mean by "marketing"? Are you talking about ranking in search engines? A parked domain like the example you posted won't show up in Google for broad based keywords. Sure, you could put it in quotes and search "gigapen" and that will show up, but that's more based on the domain itself and any parked page will show up for that, on an obscure keyword.

So if you're not getting "exact match" obscure keyword searches (low competition), where is the marketing on these sales pages?

Are you sure about that? Alter shows up on the first page for a broad search for "gigapen" (without quotes). Also, try searching for the keyword "checksoul" (without quotes) as another example which shows up in the #1 spot among 85,000 results. Same with "diflix" which shows up at the #2 spot among 132,000 results.

Now of course those are low volume searches so we don't expect a ton of buyers to come from there. This is why we've invested heavily in more generic/high-volume keywords when it comes to SEO. So for example, when a buyer searches for something like moon business names in Google, Alter shows up in the #1 spot among 96,200,000 results.

On that note, the keywords on our landing pages also help the names rank for specific searches on our marketplace. We've built our own internal search engine for business names. Just like Google, our search algorithm uses a number of factors to rank names based on buyer feedback. So that when a buyer searches for the keyword like health on Alter, we show them all the potential names that they can use in that industry and not just the ones that contain the search keyword (e.g. Nursor, Feetz, CareDish, Curemont, etc).

We also run retargeting ads to bring buyers back to our marketplace once they've seen a name on Alter to increase the probability of a sale.

And of course, all of this is just talk if we can't back it up with proof. So on the Alter dashboard, we show sellers exactly how much additional traffic we've generated for them in a simple pie chart:

Oh and the best part of it all? All of this only costs you 10% commission. :)

@Deven Patel

Absolutely agree with the added value of your external marketing campaigns on different platforms.

Added to this, you are actively participating yourself on the most relevant platforms where potential Buyers come together, and where they discuss and learn how to start a business. You know how to pitch your service overthere (finding a good business name).

You've done a lot in just 1 or 1.5 years and it's great to see where Alter is now, and that it is considered a serious marketplace option by an increasing number of domain owners and portfolio holders. I'm looking forward to the new features for making it easier to manage larger portfolios, a few of which already have been implemented based on feedback in the Alter thread on this forum.

To sellers here on this forum: by just looking at the landers on the Alter website, all these additional marketing, remarketing and other promotional strategies will not easily be found there. The added value is for a large part to be found on external websites, in serps, and other marketing campaigns.

I also like the Trademark database section on Alter. I'm sure this enormous section with a lot of keywords attracts a lot of additional visitors to the Alter site. Seems like a goldmine, smart combination.

@Deven Patel A personal thank you for always listening and responding to the members here on NamePros. Sometimes I wonder where you can find the time. You're very dedicated :xf.smile:

Godaddy purchased afternic. They seem to be merging the brands.
I noticed a bunch of my domains are afternic approved but wasn't about to press approval button without seeing i approve pricing.

Agree with this, or if the business cater to people in California this button must be included.
