AmericanCostume.com I like, I am not crazy about hyphens unless you already own buycostome.com. And I am surprised the last is a plural. I would have thought CostumeStore.com would have been better. Interesting.

the buyer of costumestores.com had costumestore.com already and its been redirected to it. so he got both names.

you can find such data in DNjournal or Namebio.com , etc.

The battle continues, the enduser (sells Halloween costumes on ebay) just went up another 100$ to 800$ but then was immediately out bid by the Domainer 810$. I am guessing the Domainer's top bid is 1K.

I have to say I am routing for the costume seller it would obviously make a good foundation for his business. I imagine when you are selling costumes at 25$ a piece on ebay 800$ is a lot.

Plus, OP did A LOT of great leg work to get the domain pushed higher. If OP would have left the domain simply to the e-Bay Gods, as many do, then the appraisal probably would have been close.

This is a good example of how a little bit of leg work and great timing can really double or triple the proceeds from a sale.

Whenever you list something for auction and you have people who try and persuade you to sell it to them at a fixed price, that's usually a symptom that you're going to do pretty well in the auction. The reason they want to buy it off ebay is that they fear it's going to sell for more than they can afford to pay on ebay.

With domain names, it's very easy to open up direct lines of communication since the whois is there, but for other stuff- when you see someone list a $5000 item for a .99 cent start price and it's clear that they haven't the slightest clue what they own- the "o you have a Buy It Now price in mind" or "I'll give you $200 for it, but we have to close the auction right away since im buying it for my wifes birthday in 4 days and I need it shipped ASAP" type offers start raining in.

That's hilarious... you know I had someone email me almost the exact same line off of an ebay listing... I believe I started it out below a buck too.... maybe it was you??? LOL ... though of course I knew the value of the item and I'm guessing most do when it's an item worth over 1k.. they just want some heavier interest. In fact, the guy said something like, "do an old man a favor" at the end of the message... lol
