Kennel Directory

I am in the process of building a directory site of boarding kennels in the USA.

I have a database of about 3,000 kennels.

Should I invite businesses to list (free of charge for three months) or add them without permision, but email them telling them we will remove there listing if they don't want to appear on the site.

Or should I concentrate on making money soley from sponsors and list every one for free.

Also what domain do you think is best?

I have...

DogResorts.com
DogSuites.com
Pet-Hotel/s.info
KennelNews.com

Advice appreciated.

Personally, I'd invite them to list because it would generate more traffic to the site. Perhaps they will also remember the site if someone ever asks them where a kennel is another area. It would also save you the work of listing the sites and then just having to remove them later on.

KennelNews.com by far.

I would say let them list for something small like $10 a year. Companies can afford this and you can make money off of advertisements.

Definitely put them all up for free. The most important thing is to provide a great site for your users, if there is only 1 or 0 kennels for every area people are going to think it is junk. Give people who pay $29 per year can be listed at the top.

I think its all about supply and demand. If you have alot kennels willing to sign up then you can charge a small fee. If you only have a small amount wanting to sogn up leave it for free, untill you can build up a bigger database.
