I've received several offers via email, on NP, and through other venues recently.

What do you think it's worth? How would you develop it?

Thanks

.US domains.US domains
Comparable Sales:
Junk.net sold for $3,800 in December of 2008 and sold again for $4,000 in April of 2009.

Junk.us sold for $1,595 in November 2005 and sold again for $1,395 in August of 2011.

I'd say it's worth as high as $1,250 to an enduser, and under $500 to another domainer.

Hi Daj - Thanks for your response. From where did you pull your sales data? Care to tackle the second question?

DnSalePrice.com & NameBio.com is where I got the sales data.

As for developing it..maybe turn it into a cloud/file storage service. "Store your junk in the cloud at junk.me!"

I wouldn't sell it for less than $1000...

Brilliant idea! :imho:

daj's idea is a nice one.

I have a different idea. You can develop it where users can discard their unwanted items for some cash. You can start with books, games, cds and dvds. Later you can add bigger items like household appliances, furniture and even cars etc.

The name is good, highly brandable, don't let it go for anything less than $10k (end user).

You're not going to be a professional service if you call your clients data junk. If you can then you're talking about freeloaders (though Megaupload made money for a while)

It has only two uses that I can think of:

Junk services < $1000.
Adult = $0

I'd put it at $500 Fixed and contact every Junk dealer in Montenegro.

I never considered the adult applications, but I'm guessing no one wants to see my junk in that way.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Sorry, but you has bad interpreted what I said. I've never said all .MEs worth that amount, I was refering to junk.me.

Of course there are lots of good valuated names in the .me, but they aren't the case of this threat

Personally I think the .me doesn't go well with junk and therefore I don't consider it with much value, although the price I said of course can be discussed whether accurate or not, It's what I thought

Personally I think the .me doesn't go well with junk

why?

.. and do "queue", "files", "singles", "jokes", "tool", "hugg", "mall" etc go any better?

Well, I don't want to generalize with the .me, but just note that the names you mentioned above only hugg.me is developed and not the others which in my opinion is a signal that the .me don't go too well with those or nor ideal at all

For junk I don't see reasons for the .me have a good fit there, I think for the nature of the name it fits with .com, a country extention or .net

If some people pays or paid high amounts for a name in .me that doesn't fit is a different story, doesn't mean the .me necessary went well

Let me first say, thank you for your appraisal; however, I'm not quite sure what point you are trying to make here.

..if some people pay "high amounts" for domains that you think "dont fit" - then maybe they do fit but you just dont see they do... or they are all plain wrong? :)

all names i asked you about if they fit .me better than "junk" were sold on sedo recently (and many more) well above $1,000.
you dont need to repeat over and over that any domain is better in .com - we all already know that.
i was trying to figure out why you think "junk" is a worse fit compared to other (sold) .me names, not why it's less valuable than .com or .net

thank you

If it was currently in an auction scene you would probably see the final bid in the mid to high $xxx range.

So I wouldn't let it go for anything below those figures IMO.

But personally, I would hold onto the name and create a brand.

It has potential. You just have to build it.

Good name for a scrap or recycling scheme or merchant. Old vehicles and PCs get broken down and re-used, so do old buildings.

As an info site it could let people look into whether things they own have scrap value or can have parts worth reselling. Or it could be a place to find antique treasures in old junk - people love that stuff on tv.

I can see a lot of uses for this, but how many junk domains are developed? junk.ca redirects to junk-removal.ca, junk.de is a surname personal site.

Worth at least 1k imo, maybe far more if used for junk in the sense of smack.

$300.00

Liquidation price is around this amount. My inventory regardless of genre or product type is valued using this method. If you need cash fast (within 7 days) this is about what you could expect. That's what it would be worth to me. Good luck. IMHO

And remember Luke, with the FORCEโ„ข the only choice is .COM! :) :)
