Jobfair.com vs Jobexpo.com

What is the value of these domains? Can someone tell me the difference between them? What is a job fair and what is a job expo?

Thanks

Thanks for your in-depth analysis. Seems like both domains will be sold for more than 30K . We are planning on making a website where jobseekers meet employers in order to find a new job. Which of the domains will be the best for that purpose? I am not a native English speaker and not sure which one of them is more common to use in this situation.

Would anyone take a wild guess on the cost of these domains?
Thanks

If you are targeting the US, I'd say JobFair.com would be the far better option of the two as "expo" has a bit different connotation.

As to price or valuation, if you specifically mean "JobFair.com", I'm guessing HIGH 5 digits at the low end and possibly in to the low 6 digit range. But really, who knows? The owners of the domain may want more and are happy to wait it out for an even larger amount.

Barring any mass change in the way we navigate the internet (i.e using domain names), I really don't see the domain dropping from whatever it's current value is. If anything, it will likely go up as the economy strengthens (not talking the stock market here) and the rate of unemployment declines once again.

As it is the less appropriate domain (in my eyes) I would say it would likely go for several thousand dollars less than JobFair - $5k-25k less, maybe even more. (A complete random guess...) It really depends on the seller.

Honestly, in my opinion, if you have the budget, JobFair.com would be the much better option here in the US as it is far more relevant/on target. In the long run you would spend less time and effort marketing it.

But with all this said, you need to make sure you have a VERY strong business plan, a HUGE mount of capital in place and a team experienced with the the US job market. Job boards and actual job fairs are an EXTREMELY competitive and tough business here in the US.

I believe Monster.com - the original 800 pound gorilla in the US job board space - has been on the sales block for a very long time with no takers. For the last 5-10 years, Indeed, Ziprecruiter, and LinkedIn have all been fighting hard to become the dominant player in today's job board/job search markets - and they have definitely reduced Monster's position in these fields. There have also been a BUNCH of other companies that have come and gone in this niche/market, including ones with very deep pockets.

Disclaimer - I have NO relationship whatsoever to the either of the domains in question or their owners. I'm just a firm believer in BOCO - buy once, cry once. My recommendation comes from recruiting a TON of job seekers/employees and attending (WAY too) many job fairs over the last 25 years representing my companies.

Good luck with your plans!
