I had to post this, it was just too interesting not to.

Virginia resident Jennifer Thornburg has officially changed her legal name to CutoutDissection.com. When asked why she decided to change her name this was her answer.

“I changed my name in order to raise awareness about the six million animals that are killed for dissection each year. These animals suffer painful deaths and their bodies are then used in labs when computer stimulations, diagrams, or 3D models could be used instead. Cutting up animals in school sends the message to students that an animal’s life is worthless. I don’t think that’s a message teachers should be sending. With so many cheaper, more educational and humane ways to learn, there is no reason for students to be dissecting in high schools today. I hope to raise awareness on this subject, and to cause teachers and students to say no to dissection, and yes to alternative ways to learn anatomy”.

I stumbled upon this article on CNN today which goes over to this link, http://blog.peta2.com/2008/10/who_is_cutoutdissectioncom.html

What an absolute nutcase.
Still, thats one way of promoting your domains.. :D

For me, this summarises my opinion on the actual issue she is campaigning about.

As a high school science teacher, there is nothing wrong in letting people know your beliefs and most schools shouldn't have any problems giving alternating assignments if a student does not want to participate.

However, dissection is necessary to learn about the living world. It furthers our understanding of how life works and leads us to the medical breakthroughs that saves peoples' lives.

Bloody brilliant!!

P.S. BTW I support her cause, Dissection is un-necessary in the 21st Century with Virtual reality software so affordable.

I have to say this is genius and crazy at the same time. For her to get the word out is great as long as she intends to change her name back at some point.

She could've just raised her concerns in another way. Changing her name, makes her sound like crazy and it's not good for a animal lover like her.. IMO.

One of the main problems is that it simply seems to confirm that activists like her have a screw loose. And who would listen to a someone like that? Or let them govern a country? ;)

Yup, I also think it's a genius idea...except "CutoutDissection" is not that memorable/catchy. I'd say it's reg fee. :D

Think i will change my name to Donatemoney.com, should work a treat. At least she did it for a good cause.

With the current depression in PPC it may be a new way to get traffic!

Yup brilliantly crazy. It could be worse for her cause or someone elses. Something like...

Iseemorebutts.com
petaluvstoreallyeattufoflavoredmeat.com
petaluvstoreallyeatmeatflavoredtofu.com
islaughterkitties.com

Or just something crazy and again that gets to the point of your cause.

Put up the auction... I would bid.
You must show / send the legal document to the winner for verification.
