It seems like people are turning away from JavaScript. I'm a JavaScript programmer, and I like the language. Not just because it was the first language I learned but because it's simple, but it can also get complex but still easy to understand and debug. I've even made complex scripts like games. I was so happy when I made my first game because it was basicly my first program with complex calculations. Although, now when I look back at my code, I think to myself, "was I stupid?". Because since then, I've learned new and simplier ways to do what I did, in less time, less efforite, and less lines of code. Do you think JavaScript is still a good language to use?

I appreciate javascript for the simple use. Adding some extra effect to a menu that cant be done with CSS, folding out info/submenus without reloading page, adding cross-browser functionality for CSS to bad standards compliant browsers to name a few.

When it comes to games I would in almost all cases prefer to see the game in flash or perhaps java.

And lastly I have to say that everything that can be done with standardized HTML and CSS should be done with just that and no javascript.

I think what we are seeing in decrease of javascript usage is just people realizing that there are certain things javascript is suitable for, and some things where other languages are better choices.

I agree, I learned just enough of Javascript for what i think it is good for.

I think I'd have to agree with that too, because I'm sure theirs things I don't know about the language, but I know enough to do what I need to do.
