I'm new to the domain reselling business and recently purchased the domain ryadmarrakech.com. Before I take any next steps, I wanted to get feedback from the NamePros community on whether this is a good domain for reselling.

A little background:

• Riad (or Ryad) refers to a traditional Moroccan house or palace with an interior garden or courtyard, which is often associated with tourism, luxury, and cultural experiences.
• Marrakech is one of the most popular cities in Morocco, known for its historical significance and booming tourism industry.

I thought this domain could appeal to businesses in the travel, tourism, or hospitality industries—especially for hotels, guesthouses, or riads in Marrakech. But I’m wondering what you all think in terms of its value, potential market, and possible buyers.

Any advice, insights, or suggestions on whether this domain is a good investment or if there are specific strategies I should consider when marketing or selling it would be greatly appreciated!

To be honest, I don't have specific sales data for the keywords "ryad" or "Marrakech" at the moment. I'm still learning the market, and I wasn't able to find detailed reports for domain sales with these exact terms. However, I do know that "Marrakech" is a well-known city, and "riad" is a common term for traditional Moroccan accommodations, so I was hoping this domain could appeal to businesses in the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors.

I’d be interested in hearing any insights or resources you’d recommend for researching the historical sales data for similar domains. Any tips on how to evaluate the market or check reported sales for related keywords would be really helpful.

However, as the article I came across notes, "ryad" is also a valid alternative and has some recognition in the market, especially in branding. It’s possible that the "ryad" spelling could appeal to a slightly different audience, which could actually be an advantage for branding purposes.

Just to add a bit more context—before I switched to Afternic's nameservers, I was using Cloudflare for the domain, and during that period, I saw some interesting traffic data. In fact, Cloudflare analytics showed +320 unique visitors in the past 7 days while it was pointed to Cloudflare. However, once I switched to Afternic's nameservers, the Cloudflare analytics were no longer available, so I can't provide a screenshot of that data anymore. But it’s worth noting that there was genuine traffic to the domain, which could be indicative of interest, particularly in the Marrakech and riad/ryad keyword space.

While I can’t provide the screenshot, the fact that there was traffic suggests there may already be some demand for this domain. This gives me confidence that ryadmarrakech.com has potential, even with the slight spelling variation.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on how the existing traffic and keyword potential might impact its value!

The domain was available for over two years before you registered it, which to me tells something about demand. Selling this might require outreach (outbound).

This name is highly unlikely to sell.

First - spelling. Not only do you have a problem ryad/riad, but also Marrakech/Marrakesh. General rule of thumb is to stay away from names that can be misspelled.

Second problem is the pool of potential buyers. How many riads are in Marrakesh? 200, 300? For you to have a chance to sell your name the pool of potential buyers should be in tens of thousands, better - hundreds of thousands.
And if an aggregator decides to choose the name - they will go for Morocco, not Marrakech in particular.

Also, in Morocco they don't care that much about the name at all, highly unlikely they pay big bucks for it. On top of all there are other tld they will be using - .ma or even .fr , rather than buying one. And they use a lot of French words for ryad names.

Finally, don't be fooled by number of visitors and search volume - people are looking for ryad to stay in, not to buy a domain name.

On a personal note - I spent 2 nights in ryad in Marrakech 3 weeks ago. Highly recommended, through!
