I don't see any reason why it would affect your sales, Java isn't dying out, and neither will it's developers. :P

Hi,

I don't know if you realise but java is the number one object oriented computer language in the world. Object oriented programming and system development has been the preferred programming for 20 years. It is far better than its closest rival c++ and much easier to use. However depending on what you do with them, java domains may be a trademark infringement on Sun Microsystems. Maybe you should try and buy a keyword in one of the new extensions instead even a less popular one for a few hundred dollars may be worth much more in the future. %%-

Is java old?

NO. Definitely not,lol

Although Java has been around more than a few years now, the core development of the Java Software Development Kit(SDK) and Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is only at version 1.5 !

Sun Microsystems are taking their time with development, but they are doing it right.

Ebay.com is java powered!

It doesn't matter how old a technology is, as long as it's still effective.
HTML is older than Java, but still very much alive.
The telephone is older than the computer, yet still the most common method of communication.
And on it goes...

Yeah, Java itself isn't going anywhere anytime soon... Too many companies have invested too much into utilizing it in their environments, they're not going to just simply bail on that investment...

I said this,But not be taken of context jaikini,The fact is PHP is what most programmers write thier code in today. They do add java in to thier PHP,However most programmers i know don't like doing it.As far as a pure Java developed website,Well...It is old technology imo.Outdated.Java add ins to PHP...ok...But a pure Java developed website,Old technology imo.

The best thing to do to make up your minds on Java / Javascript is to disable it for one day ... ;) Then try to surf the web in your ordinary fashion - You'll see how and where it is used still daily :)

I keep java disabled mark,Well with mozilla any way,And i use it as my primary browser,The java console in it is to exploitable,Really exploitable! lol,But as far as coding goes,Iam way off base even talking about it,cause i definatly don't know how to code,Just what programmers i know are coding in PHP-SQL-HTML mixes.

There is a difference between OLD and OutDated technologies.

If you are asking if java is outdated ? NO it is not may be few more decades for that to happen (if that happens)

Very true. Go here and you'll find one of the very best uses for java in the mainstream internet.

Also, you might want to check out Yahoo! Games to see some more Java in lively action

Age is not the issue. The future is the issue, specifically the next 5 years. For medium-sized and up companies, the choice is mainly between using java or .net as the main programming environment. .net was meant to conquer the world, but it is not quite succeeding. For smaller websites, scripting in the form of php is seen as simpler, and an effective alternative. Java domain names have a future but many existing javaname websites are mature and developed. New names unless something special or focussing on some new software development are probably not worth much bothering with, and website development will need to be of a good standard to stand any chance.
