See namepros has 2 chatrooms

namepros.com/chat

namepros.com/chat.php

I think they should delete one.

think they should give like 1 or 2 np$ per hour or something, that you're connected to the chat. that way it would hopefully be more activity in there too. quite dead as it is now.

Then I'd be double rich! :tri:

Good motivational idea, though. :)

We've NEVER used the first one you mentioned. There is a backup chatroom at http://www.namepros.com/chat2.php We had to use it once when the main chatserver went down.

We considered this. But as of yet, there's no way we can tell if someone if actively in chat or away from keyboard.

Love the NP$ per hour idea. Perhaps if it's only a few NP$ (1-5/hr) then it wouldn't matter if they're actively in chat? :)

could have some function to auto-disconnect/timeout after like one or two hours inactivity in the chat. that way you would get rid of the problem more or less (except for automsgs).

I mean, if they work that hard, they're almost worth a couple for np$... per hour? :)

I wouldn't like that :P I try to stay in the NP's chatroom whilst I'm sleeping. ;)

 I really don't see the need to stay in the chatroom if your inactive, especially if your heading to bed.

I think an apporach to NP$ in the chat room is a steep hill. It's hard to draw up a plan so that ACTIVE users can be treated fairly, and we don't have inactive users staying in the chat while they are sleeping, at school, work or even on vacation for that matter!

Also, these are Java chatrooms, NamePros did not design them, so setting the chat to do various tasks such as monitoring active and inactive users, may not be possible.

payout per word/letter would be about the same thing as to be paid for activity in the forum.

there are several open source chat rooms that would probably be able to use, maybe as a combination with an IRC server or so. listening on the sockets and counting the traffic to decide the payouts maybe would be a little bit tough :) but maybe just a bot (eggdrop with tcl maybe) to count the words would work.. probably be the easiest way to go..

think this would be a real enhancement.. then people would be able to use an irc client of their choice. that itself would probably give more activity in the chat.

I'd really like to see NP's use a combo of Java and IRC :) I'd much perfer to connect through HydraIRC than a Java chatroom. :)

ye that would be really good getting np$ for chatting!!:)

well the idea would be to get some people there to chat and the np$ would just be something additional. for 5np$/hour I think it would be enough people and be really giving to discuss there :)

but this doesnt seem to be possible yet I guess. would be fun to hear if this has been discussed anything more among the forum mastahs :)

Could I ask who would agree that we should be heading the IRC with Java chat way? We could quite simply then have an eggdrop which can check a user hasn't been idle over X amount of time, and if the user hasn't, increadement their account with X NP$ / hour. As I said before - I'd rather connect through an IRC client anyhow. People can then decide, java or client.
