Madeira Island, were I live, is a spectacular holiday destination :snaphappy: Very mountainous, lots of quality hotels, great weather, including very mild winters, great wine, and we have the second best soccer player in the world; Cristiano Ronaldo. :tu: The best one, I have to admit is Messi.

You hear people talking a lot of different languages as they look into the Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA. So it has some global interest. It gets pretty toasty in June, July & August.

I recently did Yellowstone National Park so i am trying to criss cross around the globe, although at some stage The Grand Canyon will be featured

A favorite not well know place for me is Panglao Island in the Philippines, as well as its tiny neighbor Balicasag Island. This is one of the best diving spots I know of, completely unspoiled, and stunningly beautiful. It's very cheap, the locals are friendly and the scenery is great.

Still in Asia, you might check out my adopted home city of Fukuoka, Japan, and Kyushu Island. It's the best of all worlds. Fukuoka has everything a city needs (including great nightlife and every kind of restaurant imaginable). Yet, nearby there's wonderful nature, flower-covered volcanoes, countless waterfalls and some good swimming or hiking.
The food beats Tokyo hands down, especially when price is factored in.

Victoria Falls on the Zambezi river on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. One of the wonders of the world. I have seen them as I lived in Africa for 25 years. The locals call it "Mosi-oa-Tunya" meaning "The smoke that thunders" because of the tremendous noise that the falls create as well as the constant mist and can be heard from dozens of miles away. The falls are 1.7 km wide and drop about 110 meters, making them the largest in the word. The only other comparison in terms of waterfalls would be the also spectacular Iguaรงu Falls (another great destination) in the border between Brazil and Argentina. Niagara falls are also lovely but smaller in comparison.

The Zimbabwe side of the falls is more spectacular. They have bungee jumping, white water rafting in the Zambezi river and game reserves nearby

Staying in Africa, move further south into South Africa and visit one of the world's most beautiful city; Cape Town. (I've also visited on 3 occasions) There are lots of fascinating things to do in and around Cape Town, like visiting the wine estates, the fantastic beaches, game reserves, whale watching, or for some really great adrenalin you can go feeding the great white sharks, followed by a relaxing drive along the Garden Route.

Next and still in South Africa go further north and visit the Kruger National Park (one of the best in the world for big game). If you still have money in you pocket head over to Sun City and blow it away in the casinos.

One very unusual Game park that is hardly known can be found in the country of Gabon. Its called the Loango National Park where you can find "hippos surfing" and where the elephants also like to stroll along the beach and the Lowland Guerillas are still very accessible because of their few contacts with human beings.

There are so many unusual and fascinating destinations. Even the Cape Verde Islands (on my signature) are a great year round warm and sunny destination.

Wish I had lots of money so that I could just go around to all these exotic and unusual places.

There are tons of hidden treasures around the world;
Machu Picchu in Peru Simply fabulous and mysterious Inca ruins
Dubai; To go to the top of Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building etc.
Maldives Islands (Indian Ocean) miles and miles of white sandy beaches
Mauritius Islands (Indian Ocean)Beautiful island with fabulous beaches
Seychelles Islands (Indian Ocean) Just like Mauritius
Okavango Swamps in Botswana. A fantastic game reserve were the Okavango River flows inland instead of the sea and empties into a massive swamp.
Venice (Italy) The romantic city
A Boat trip through the Danube
Old quaint villages all over Europe like ร’bidos in Portugal
The Amazon Forest in Brazil
The Angel Falls in Venezuela with a free fall of almost 1000 metres.
How about a trip on the famous, luxurious Blue Train between Pretoria and Cape Town
The Grand Canyon that I had the privilege of seeing. A really awe-inspiring place
Buzios in Brazil - A fabulous place
Phi Phi in Thailand

Man I could go on forever, as I just love this subject

I did some articles about all of those destinations, although of course each country would have a myriad of great places
