Hi all,
We are currently charting community interest in a cooperative domain name registrar, as the registrar I work with is considering changing its legal type from Ltd to a cooperative.
In short the cooperative would operate as follows:
- anyone could become a member of the cooperative
- the members are the legal owners of the entity
- every member has a vote general company meetings and decisions are made democratically
- every member can bring topics up for discussion in general company meetings
- the members elect a board for each year to manage the daily operations
- the cooperative is not intended to make profit. Should it make profit (say through expired domain name auctions), the surplus is circulated back to the members.
