Okay, laptop is newer (1.5 yrs old) currently has home premium, bought upgrade today, go to install...Windows cannot be installed in a computer using battery power...

Okay, adapter is plugged in, same thing, restarted it, same thing...my other 2 laptops worked just fine, what's the problem here?

see if adapter cord is broken, see if you can pull and push it all over again (disconnect and reconnect), make sure it's actually using the adapter's power and not the battery.

It is showing as being charged in bottom right corner, adapter is fine (brand new multi plug adapter for various laptops) but I used it for the identical laptop in the past and no problems (past = 1 week ago lol)

To talk it all off, walked in doggy poo coming in the house, moshed it everywhere, just got it cleaned up, take off shoes, set em out side, two steps I step in cat pee! Grrr

Edit: To add to my bad luck today, found the problem, it's a power problem, internal, waiting for my Hakko soldering iron to come in the mail as I have this problem with 2 other laptops as well, perfect :(

1 Laptop left with home premium on it, guess I can upgrade that one

2k Ram FTW! jk

Thank you weblord though, it wouldn't have dawned on me without your post :)

Not sure if you read the issue already or not...

It's just an Acer Extensa 7620Z, nothing special...

1.6 Ghz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache
17" WXGA + built in webcam (this monitor is pretty nice though)
Up to 252 MB Mobile Intel Graphics
1 GB DDR2
160 GB HDD
DVD Super Multi DL
802.11b/g WLAN

(Like I said, I found the problem, it's inside, I just took it apart, this laptop has had multiple problems and right now has drink stains under the keyboard, but the keyboard I already ripped out so just stains, USB connected keyboard over it...)
