Basically Bangalore will now be know as Bengalooru in the same way that Madras, Bombay and Calcutta became Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata.
Also changing are the names of Mysore, Mangalore, Hubli, Shimoga, Belgaum and Hospet.
Basically it seems to be something any of us would recognise no matter what country we're in - politics. The Kannataka nationalists are trying to pick up votes by moving away from the British spelling towards the "original".
Just picked up Bengalooru.mobi and Bengalooru.tv. Bangalore.mobi is on the list of reserverd names :hehe:
