Has anyone had success getting your Parked.com pages indexed after you've parked them?

What about getting PR? Even a PR 1 or 2?

You won't get any PR; that's strictly a Google thing. If your domain already has PR, you'll lose it eventually when you go to Parked. You'll get (or stay) indexed in Google but you won't come up for any searches (at least, you might to begin with, but it won't last very long) You might come up for searches in Yahoo and MSN, but it's volatile, and of course, much less traffic.

Parked & PR & index

Yes you can get PR on your parked.com sites and no you will not lose it as long as you do not lose the backlinks. You would lose the PR because you lose backlinks but not because the sites are sitting at parked.com. At least 10 of my domains have various PR levels and they have had PR since January. (Netmeg I'll PM you some names if you like-no disrespect intended).

Indexing-forget Google-they'll drop you sooner or later.
Yahoo-no problem I rank top three for some phrases BUT it helps if you add some long articles (300 words at least) in the custom field.

Pagerank works on backlinks no matter if it's Parked or not.
But PR doesn't affect google search results position.
So-called Trustrank is what determines Your position for keywords.

But no matter how high Your trustrank is, google will penalize Your domains when You park them. Penalize means if it was NR 35 result in google for "furniture", after parking it will be something like NR 400 bringing You almost none traffic.

PR doesn't decrease with Parking, You are only losing reciprocal links (if Parking expired sites).
Most of the Pagerank loss is done by moving backlinks from mainpages (like You have links in comments of BLOGS, and after a while, with new posts comming, You'd go to page 2 as main page contains for example only 5 latest POSTs) and You're moving to subpages which has usually lower pagerank.

That's all. If I'm mistaken, please tell me, I like to learn :D

The PR will last

The PR will last as long as the backlinks stay. Plus you could add backlinks if you are actually worried about that.

The Google indexing does disappear but the Yahoo indexing is great.

Are you permitted to actively solicit additional backlinks for your Parked.com pages? If you add some unique content to your Parked page can you submit it to directories, etc.

You should probably read the TOS for Parked.

(No, the PR on parked domains won't stay even if the backlinks stay)

netmeg - I agree with 98% of your statements. But we have at least 100 domans that we own with PR that have been parked for over 2 years. Somebody provided the data to us about 2 weeks ago. "Hey, I see you have a PR6 domain would you be interested in selling it?" :) We did check them and they did have a PR.

As far as being list in the search results Yahoo and MSN are easy, I think we have over 30,000 keywords listed in the 10 ten between those two companies. Google is a little trickier, but for yesterday we counted 8,000 unique keywords where a domain parked with us was in position 1-10 for a search term that wasn't the domain.

But those hits make up less than 1% of our total hits. So it is hard to get a PR when a domain is with a domain parking company, but it's not impossible.

Don't be sorry because it's not necessarily true. I've got domains there for almost two years that have maintained and/or gained in pr.

parked and trafficz are 2 of my favorite as they both allow title and meta tags along with a yahoo feed, I have had quite a few domains that sat on the front pages of google and yahoo, sometimes they stay, sometimes they drop off and return and sometimes they drop off and don't return, google may not keep them but it's worth setting the titles and meta tags as they definitely seem to work well in yahoo and msn from my stats.
