"Include" code/Php?

I want to be able to control my navigation bar from a seperate file so I can update it whenever I want without having to change every page. I remember there used to be a "include.php" or something along those lines that I used to use, where I would just upload the file of the nav bar and then type in "<include file.php>". Also I'd like to be able to do the same with Adsense so that I don't always have to be going and getting the code, I could just upload it once for each ad type and then do an "include". Does anyone know how to do this?
