Were you in the process of buying from eNom? If so, they may be holding it for you. Maybe your CC or paypal hasn't cleared yet.

If the domain goes to someone else or goes to auction, then something dirty may be going on.

At the moment, eNom doesn't have a great reputation.

If you were buying from a another registrar, then you might have a spy or keylogger on your computer.

Also, consider this: if the made-up name has been in the news, it could be that someone else simply beat you to it.

Is this a name that recently dropped ? I would guess it was simply caught by a taster. Likely it has nothing to do with yo.
Where did you search ? Availability search at godaddy is not realtime and unreliable.

I know that Enom is still tasting too and the name could be released within a few days.

This has been a lingering problem. I believe a lot of registrars indulge in domain tasting practices...plus there are a lot of snoopers out there too...

It's getting really bad. This was a hand search and I may have had it in my cart, at Godaddy, for approx 30 minutes. It was not on a drop list and I had never searched the word before. It was a VcVcV.com made up word. No real reason to front run me. It's not a person, place or thing.....


I'm not going to search the name again for a few days and see if in fact it is being "held" or being tasted. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
