:hi:

I recently decided I'd like to enhance what little skill I had in graphic design, since it seems like something I'll need a lot of skill in to be successful at the place I work.

I created this logo for a personal project I'm working on, and I was hoping some designers can critique it for me. DylanButler was very helpful in the chat last night, and I got it to a point where I'm pretty happy with it:

I just started working with vectors, so I'm sure something's wrong.

Thanks,
Steve B-)

great start. it's clean, sharp and throwing in the speedometer needle as part of the 'v' is interesting. there's still room to make it stand out a bit more with some more frills, while keeping it looking clean. try playing around with lighting/shading and making it look a bit 3d or throw in a light reflection.

I like it. I would say you need to make sure the speedometer circle is circular. It detracts to the design being too warped. Also I would recommend pulling the text (under the vidane) down a bit so it's not too crammed together.

Other than that the design is clean and simple...which is really a good thing. Most good design is not busy with non-important stylings or elements.

Nice job.

Thanks for the input, shockie and franchise -- I'll try that and post the results tomorrow! :tu:

from a simple standpoint of recognition:

great logo, simplicity is the name of the game, while you're still retaining effectiveness. In the world of logos, that's pretty damn sharp, especially considering that you're not a graphic artist by trade.

The speedometer needs to be rounded and a few numbers wouldn't hurt either.
Place some recognizable element into the speedometer, eventually drop in some carbon background.

Overall, if i need another logo in the future, i think you need to submit ;)

Very nice work so far. :tu:+1/2 out of 3
