Ever wonder what would happen to the Earth if everyone suddenly vanished one day? How long would it take things to break down, for nature to reclaim the Earth?

It's one think about our purpose here on earth.

It'd mostly likely only be a matter of time before evolution takes over and another species would begin to dominate the earth, either by intellectual evolution or sheer size/brute force.

Too bad cockroaches would likely survive mankind either way.

What's interesting about the article though, is because it shows how much what we see and have are the result of our dependence on a few critical folks (people who maintain the streets, engineers and the public works that fix things that break in the public areas as well as infrastructure like highways and buildings).

Agreed.
Technically, even we as humans may not be the superior race in X amount of years if another creature more powerful than us evolves.

It could happen, whether this year or in a million.

There are days I dream of a little "elbow room"... I'd like to see Mother Nature reclaim a bit of territory.

Scary thought: plastics lasting virtually forever.. ugh!
