If .com was taken what would be your next choice?

If you went to register a .com but it was taken what would be your next choice assuming all other TLD's were available?

Being from Canada I would try the .ca first
I would take it if it was available, then maybe a .net/.info
whichever TLD suited it better.

If I have to exclude another .com, I would go for the .net. But if the name would fit perfectly another extension I would choose that(if it would be a place or person name, I would choose info).

Looks like .net is the most popular second choice so far which does not surprise me too much. It appears .info is the next most popular and I have been noticing more .info names being listed on advertising. I am surprised .us is lagging way behind. I have been hoping that there would be more interest in .us.

It all depends on the name and it fits in with the extension. But if it did fit with the .net i would defiantly reg the .net.

and then if those aren't available, I'd just try to find another name I think. One exception: if it's for a messageboard I'd also include .net in the list.

I might go for the .org if the com was undev or parked. Seem to have better luck with orgs than nets. ( unless it was a hosting or network name )
