Best advice I can give is to read and research as much as possible before investing too much money in domains that will likely have little-to-no ROI. Education is key and, fortunately, NamePros offers it for free. :tu:bizkiller said:Thank you![]()

Reality Hurts said:Very good advice. I started in 1999 and bought hundreds of domains when they were $100 + each! I wasted thousands and had a very unhappy wife once she found out about my hobby!! That is why I am realistic in my appraisals. I don't want others to find themselves in that position.
I would avoid hand regging and try and pick up a great domain on the aftermarket. Then try and develop.
Good luck!

I did for a year before coming to Japan, and I visited many times while growing up in Oregon. It's a beautiful city and I've some great memories there. Wouldn't mind possibly moving back one day.bizkiller said:Thank you :0

Ask yourself how many domains can you afford to register everyday.
Is it 1, 2, 3, 10, 50?
10 per day is 3,650/year costing you about $27,375/year with $7.50/domain.
Once you come up with number, stick with it!
These days, most domain names that you can come up, it's already registered, so...
Go thru as much dropped list as you can everyday.
First read thru, not using any tools, just your eyes.
1. find domain names that stand out ( looks good to you for some reason).
2. find shorter domain names.
3. find domain names that contain highly searched words such as credit, cards,
mortgage, loan, any popular sports, gifts...
You may find more than hundreds this way, everyday.
From this picked list...
1. check google search results with/without quotations, with/without extensions, with/without spaces between words.
2. check and see if there are any archived pages for that domain.
3. check how many links exists for that domain.
4. check if domain has any meanings on other languages.
5. check if other extensions are taken.
6. check ovt scores.
You will find few using this method, usually under 10 domains.
Go thru this list again to make up your mind.
You need to ask yourself...
Can this domain be developed?
Another method is stay awake and find out what's the newest things.
It could be new technology or it could be new products.
Generally, yes.bizkiller said:DANG>.... NICE!! Thank you!!!
so you would rather choose .com. right? not any other tld
copper said:Generally, yes.
However, if domain has high ovt scores with exact terms and
.com is taken, I may register other extensions.
I even have few .tv![]()
