How to setup a domain name

once you have gotten your domain,you put in the nameservers...after that what do you do...
coz if I type in the domain my site doesn't come up...what do I do in cpanel?

While its usually quite quick, in some instances depending on your ISP, it may take a while (48 to 72 hours) for your domain to come up. If you have a webhost, they should be able to help you with your required settings. If you don't have a webhost who can help you, then you should probably move to a better host.
