heya guys,

i've stumbled with this twist now.

Let say i want to redirect one my name to disney's or cartoonNetwork's site, so what i need to to do is copy and paste their Name server info into my nameserver blanks. Like what we do if we want park our names or want to host our site (we'll get the Name server info from the hosting company)

But i am having a problem.

These big sites are having more than 2 name servers,whereas Godaddy provides only 2 name server blanks. And another problem, These Big sites have IP address alongside their name server ie. "HUEY.DISNEY.COM 204.128.192.10".

Ok fair enough, i thought i'll just ignore the IP and just paste the "HUEY.DISNEY.COM".

But now the page isn't resolving.

What can i do now??? or what should i do ? how to solve handle this situation ?
cheers!

why can't you just issue a 301 redirect and keep your nameservers to whatever your default nameservers are

If I understand correctly you want to redirect one of your names to disney's or any other big site, why do you want to do that? Can you explain?

The fact that you do not have any control on those big sites tells me that you do not own them, and if you do not own them, how can you redirect to them??

If it is to gain PR value from those big sites, what more can I say?

Please explain,

Gamehouse

Well to clear your doubts, let me be frank.

Ok, i just wanna make some impression on this lady here. I bought a domain name on her name. so, i thought it will be "Cute" ( :lala: (ladies terminology of creative,hahah) if she finds out disney bought her name and about to start a new cartoon series.

I have to admit that i have no malicious intention or whatsoever.

I know this process is not a rocket science, but its just i am not getting it.

If its impossible then, how could someone buy their mates name and redirect them to porn siteS?

or how the folk who owns Fatcheck.com manage to redirect the site to Soros's Anti-Bush campaign site???

The quickest, easiest way is to make this your index page:

Code:
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=http://www.INSERT_REDIRECT_HERE.com">
</head>
</html>

You can't do that because its not a hosted site. Its just a plain domain name.

It got to be like forwarding or redirecting. I can't include any HTML.

Why not just use a free host for this purpose?

Okay, I understood. In that case, your only option could be to forward your name to the other site. Godaddy should an option to forward the names. If you go under Manage Domains, you see "forward domains" and using that you can forward your name. I think you should check the masking option.

Good luck,

Gamehouse

you could use the "domain forwarding" instead of "name server change" feature from you registar (usually forwarding is free of charge).

Allright guys...

I found it... thx for your inputs..that was Priceless, for everything else there is Mastercard.

i had 2 options:

1.To forward the name as what Gamehouse mentioned, or
2.To use Godaddy's free hosting service and use 301 redirect technique. Since Godaddy is givng out free hosting and email service for every new reg , i could take this option as Gene mentioned.

But i thought, the second option is rather tedious, i think tedious would be fair word.

So i just forwarded the name.

Thx mateyss...
