if there was an easy way of doing this the people that know it wouldnt tell, they would be far too busy registering them for themselves

Try http://www.dropscout.com/ you will get a bit of info for free, but you will need to subscribe to get the information you really want. There are others where you will need to subscribe as well. If you do not want to spend any money check potential domain purchases first at archive.org to check for previous websites on the domain, research any keywords that may be contained within the domain for search volume and pay per click bid value then use your own judgement to decide how much traffic may still be attached to the domain.

I learned this the hard way. If you are going to go to the trouble, make sure you can cancel your domains in 5 days if you get no traffic.

it's a long tedious manual process for me.
see it's previous owner and content as archived by archive.org
use http://statbrain.com/ to approximate it's traffic
check it's alexa ranking
check it's google ranking
check it's site: and link: on google.com
check it's keyword.
among other things.

I like that one.Tried it with a couple of my domains and found the daily search numbers to be a bit high. Still like it though,Rep added.

These two won't give a number of visits per day. but they will give you indicators of traffic,I.E. PR, Backlinks, Wayback machine, directory listings.

I use this one first.
http://www.checkpagerank.net/

When I see one I'n interested in I have a look at it with this one.
http://smartpagerank.com/

It has a backlinks analyzer and Alexa rankings. The better the quality of the back links, the better chance of decent traffic.

Hope this helps.

As to where to find them, if that's what you asking.Try Sedo, snapnames, pool, enom, and godaddy.

Hi,

I have a question, how reliable is this smartpagerank? Cause I have this domain name (www.lingerie-collection.com), the age is more than 6 years old. But when I input it into smartpagerank, it says it's around 3 moths old???

The first one was a little touchy for me - I had a feeling a few things might go under the radar?

The smartpagerank one was nice. It felt like tough love - especially after $1,200 estibot estimates!

;)

Yes, I previously used http://www.domainersedge.com/ where I have had success finding domains with traffic and links, but found the service to be expensive, so http://www.dropscout.com/ is now a better alternative, but if this does not work for you there is also these options for helping you get some quality expired domain names.

This ones a bit slow, but it gives you free stats http://www.odditysoftware.com/Expired_Domains/google/1/today.htm

Maybe you need to detect fake page rank http://www.seologs.com/pr-check/pagerank.html

You might want this site for some help with auctions http://www.freshdrop.net/

Just could not go past this site for free http://www.premiumdrops.com/

There is this free one as well http://www.drophunt.com/search.php

And some software http://domainresearchtool.com/details.htm
That's about it!
