How to find comparable sales?

My first stop was dnjournal, but I couldn't find any search engine. Next, I couldn't find any place to search among sold domains at Afternic. How is it possible to find comparable sales? I have received an offer on a three-word .com and need to find other sold domains that contain the same last two words, if possible.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
You can have a look on sedo.com to see similar names to yours, look at if there is an asking price and how many bids/traffic etc. This will not give you an accurate figure, but it may help.
On DNJournal there is a long list of top sales, there may be somthing in there that will help.
I know this is not very specific, but hopefully you'll find somthing that is of use.
Finally, I'd say if the price they are offering is acceptable to you, or you need the money soon, then haggle them up as high as you can anbd just sell.
Good luck with it,
Jay

You could try http://dnsaleprice.com/ or http://www.leapfish.com at the lower left hand side. :)

I think the first one is better IMO
Their database contains $154,759,917 (USD) in recent domain sales and was last updated 6/27/2006

If you can determine domain comparables based on observing the popular value drivers, such as length, "soft factors", you may want to consider stock picking. In fact, the "length" is irrelevant, if you take into account the other important factors, and not to mention the amount of cognition needed for interpretating "soft" factors. Thus, not even 3-character domains with the same extension are comparables.

You need a statistical clustering model. With over 4,500 sales records available over the last two years, such models are imperative in any value analysis.

Gazzip,

The first website was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. The database for the second website seems to be offline at the moment.

Some rep points coming your way!

I'm going to jump on spikedo's coattails and ask if there are there any resources that provide past sales history for "adult" domain name (ADN's) sales?

Have a handful in my portfolio that I feel are pretty good (have already had a couple of $X,XXX offers) but am not sure what kind of prices good ADN's can fetch.

Would prefer not to post them for appraisal at this time so I'm hoping to find some resources with which to do a little research.

Thanks!

(I'll delete this post if anyone feels it's not appropriate or if spikedo would prefer not to have this question included in his thread.)
