Hi,

I have the domain MoranAtias.com and beta.estibot.com says it's worth $6,800.

Moran Atias is a model / actress who gets around 50,000 searches a month on google.

I have no idea what this domain is worth, if anything. What do you think?

Thanks

it is worth nothing because they can take it from you at any time, and perhaps the courts will fine you, also.

Why will they take it from him ? there is no rule that nobody else can use a celebrity's name,
My friend's name is Sachin so if we builds up a site like SachinTendulkar.com then Sachin Tendulkar cant take the domain from him.
AT maximum, he can buy from him

It's called name jacking, and the courts are starting to get tough on it, don't do it.

As for trying to sell a domain that profits from Sachin Tendulkar to Sachin, he will squash you like a bug.

DONT DO IT.

They can only take their name if that name has become a "household" name related to the celeb. Not sure if that's the case here.

I wouldnt put anything related to the celeb or their genre or art.

I think the point Chrysalis55 is trying to make is that if you monetize the domain to make money from the celeb's name, as you implied in your post, you would technically be profitting from someone elses name. If it was used for a non-profit fan site, you would be ok, but would kill the value of the domain name. So the number of searches are irrelevant. All in all, its not a good ethical approach.

Wow, really sexy.
By that, I mean Moran Atias, not you.

The term/name actually gets 33,100 exact google monthly searches, not 50,000; when you use the keyword tool, go to that little drop down menu that says 'broad' and change it to 'exact'.

I still find actors/actresses, even hot up-and-comers in movies, with their dot.com available. I've never regged one. There are too many laws, rules, domainers against cybersquatting/name-jacking celeb names. There's no good reason to reg them. I know it's tempting and a lot of domainers still think it's cash in the bank to have a celebrity name... but each year, practically each month, the legal system tightens up even more against domainers who squat celeb names.

Let the name go, or send it to the rightful owner for free.

That is simply not true, name jacking is name jacking.
