Hello , was just wondering , is it extremely hard to reply with a Yes or No answer if anyone not interested in any domains.

I sometimes send PM to other request domainers, and after receiving my list of domains they just become numb to even response , sometimes after exchanging a message or 2 showing interest, and then they dissapear out of conversation.

Is it so tough to give a 2 sec NOT INTERESTED reply.....or is it the new trending attitude.

just talking about ethics :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I take the exact opposite opinion, if I send a domain, I always include please don't reply unless interested. I don't want to see you have unread conversations and it's people saying no thanks.

Plus when I modded here, I always had people tell me why do I have to have conversations? I replied back no thank you and the member sent back, why? well you want my names cheaper? and a million other replies.

Who wants to start a thread and then they are in a back and forth why they didn't purchase a name. And some people just report the member who keeps pming them.

Plus too many people respond with names nowhere close to what was requested, over the last year those people have ramped up the number of reporting a member for spam. I think if someone is asking for 4L.com and you send 4L.com then that member could get back and say thanks but not what I am looking for, I don't like a the letter Q of J in any position but first.

But if someone sends a message "Hey bro I know you said 4L.com, I mean I can read English, but I am going to send you some .CO because let me tell you there have been a lot of good 4L .co sales lately."

Why should that person get a reply? More than likely they are getting reported.

Domains Wanted threads leave a lot to be desired on both sides, too many buyers are too vague, I am looking for a brandable name, Yeah you need to be more specific. I am looking for a popular first name budget $1 - $20. Seller's who send any name at the top of the budget, and what's funny if the buyer starts a new thread a month later with a lower budget, that member will send the same name at the top of the lower budget. So when my budget was $1,000 a name, Duude.com was $1,000 but now my budget is $200 and surprise Duude.com is now being offered to me for $200. Cool.

  • I think @equity78 has a point. Replying is being polite, but if the buyer is not interested in your domain names then you're just feeding conversation for nothing. Saying "sorry not interested" is not valuable feedback for the other party because it's not going to make your names sell better. It simply means this is not the right buyers for your names or maybe they are just bad.
  • Some buyers must be getting a lot of PMs, replying is time-consuming, even keeping track of replies is.
  • If your domain names do not match the criteria stated, then you're spamming and you shouldn't even expect the courtesy of a reply.
  • Also, not all buyers are serious, some are phishing for ideas or hoping to get an absolute steal. They advertise a $2K budget or more, but in reality they have $20 available in their paypal account.

Shameless expectations lead to unrealistic submissions, request section is one big waste of time for buyers and sellers. Nobody replies even if you send what they ask for. They don't have time?? Why buying domains if you don't have time for simple "No thanks" for valid submissions? Claiming they recieve 200-300 emails per day is nonsense...

It has nothing to do with ethics. When people request names they get many replies. If you don’t hear back they were not interested or in some cases not even really looking.

The most suspect are huge budgets and their feedback number never goes up. Hundreds of replies and no apparent purchase.

When you ask ridiculous prices you will also be ignored.

I am of the same opinion, a " no thanks " would be nice. In all fairness, some NPers do reply, some are actually very nice people.

But i'll tell you this & you could consider it an advice, in business, " Do Not Take It Personally " .

just move on..

When you get bombed with 100s of crap names it really does take to much time to say no

The problem is that even a simple NOT INTERESTED would trigger a WHY NOT or some other answer and you will soon be engaged in conversation with dozens of submitters of bad names.

I clearly ask for service and product names and someone submits Hey897.com (just an example, but I received a similar submission) Why should I take time to respond to 20 bad submissions of that sort?

The simplest and most convenient method is No Response = No interest

Its not just about expectations...i have so many times not even received a counter offer / reply after sharing my domains and prices..at max i expect a reply ...too expensive...not interested....but absolutely no reply...this makes me wonder is this the new world ethics. .

I mean people are even so scared to make an offer...then how can negotiations proceed?

People only pay top dollar here for super valuable domains. Great 4 letters, dictionary words that are highly desirable, premium quality and aged. Anything else you would be lucky to get $100.

If you want big bucks you have to go to other platforms. Sometimes people’s expectations are unreasonable as well.

I somewhat see both sides of this argument.

On the one hand, after taking the time to put together a list with names, offered prices, registrar, expiry date and sometimes more, a simple "not interested" would be appreciated (and I have found about 1/3 of the time those seeking domains do that). I particularly appreciate those who have in addition provided feedback, like the name is ok but not exactly what I am looking for, or the price is too high for quality of name. Thanks to those who do this.

On the other hand, I do also realize that most buyers have busy domain activities, and often that is just part of what they do in business, and I there often are not enough minutes in the day and the need to prioritize. Some say explicitly, and I normally assume, that if I hear no response in a few days there is no interest in the name.

A domain investor here requested for names and I sent mine as well. He replied and asked how long have I had it and the outbound have done... I replied with 3 email addresses that I'm still expecting response and then buyer went out of existence.
Tried several times to get in touch but even though he comes to NP regularly he doesn't reply.....
A simple NO would have helped...imo
Your mistake was providing too much information to the potential "buyer". Never give them your leads or research before they buy. Also, never chase them. If they were seriously interested they will contact you. Messaging someone repeatedly only annoys and makes you look desperate.

You don't know what others have in their radar.

I frequently receive 20 to 30 PM to my watsapp number per day and 100 to 200 emails. Apart from these, I need to assign the work to my employees and need to monitor.

I do have other businesses like website development apart from domain investing.

I think it's fine to not reply to original messages, especially if they don't fulfil the criteria that was being looked for. However, if you are in a conversation with someone because you are interested in what they sent you and then blank them, that's not cool.

I guess don't be dis hearten. Keep moving you will receive a lots of no and only one Yes in life with a long gap of period. You must be happy with one yes. Keep looking for yes. Dont stick to No around you. Dont think why they said no.

Thanks for the input...the debate is about behaviour and peoples attitude in a business marketplace

Just imagine a market where buyers are working around in silence..not buying..not replying...so purpose of a marketplace is defeated

And yes the effort keeps going on because even a hundred silences or no responses wont stop the selling process.

I prefer they Dont reply at all if the are not interested in buying the domain. Its a total waste of time to read a non sense PM that says ¨I am not interested...¨
In these business and in life in general, you have to develop an ¨I dont give a F...¨ attitude to random people, extrangers and negative family members or Friends.

Maybe its because I am a Cold Heart person, Happy but Cold Hearted lol life is tough and you must be tough too.

Most domainers are looking for the type of bargain that you only get by being first through the door at the Winter/Summer sales.

If your going to send out lists or even seek offers from the 'Wanted section' best you get accustomed to some of the knocks of domaining - No 1, don't let No-replies bother you

I like this response. This is a tough game...a tough business. Can't get sappy or emotionally attached to anything domain related or you will lose out most likely.

Funny. I'm completely the reverse. Firstly. I never send PM's trying to sell a domain to another domainer. It will never work out well. But I receive a fair few. A Sorry. I'm not interested. Is a polite response and tells the sender, that I'm not interested in receiving offers. If they don't get the hint. I start getting more flowery with my language :)

Some people are trained to a follow up PM (email phone call)..

Personally, I would just report the 2nd PM as "spam" (add a mod/admin to conversation)!

I get really go nuclear when I get "flowery"..bad bad busine$$ for me to let my emotions take over (high blood pressure etc)

I do appreciate when the OP when asking for names also adds, something along the lines of "if interested will respond"

So you have authorised the view that most of domainers here are trying to sell peanuts for price of gold biscuits

Exceptions do sell here...i am sure not all domainers here are selling usd 100 quality.domains ...may be buyers wanting to buy for 100 and sell it 5000....possible IMO
