How is this effect done?

I'm looking to create the color effect that you see behind the girl. I've tried to figure it out and I can't get it right. is there a simple way to do this that I'm just overlooking?

Which colour effect are you trying to do?

The lines are just bars with a gradient.

It looks like the purple "cloud" (not the real cloud) is a radial gradient that also fades to transparent towards the edges.

The effect can be done by two ways.
1. With a gradiant of the colours layed over the image of the cloud and then made in adjustment layer (linked).
2. With the brush, dodge and burn tool. This is where pixel2life.com is your best freind.

I think you will find that the image was made in flash using masks, then exported, I know it is how I would do an image like that.

Or you could try http://www.tutorialized.com/ if your going to learn how to do something this is the place to find it.

it's not that hard as you may think it is.
just read tutorials about effects on pixel2life or some other site and you'll be able to do it

Where it shows like 100 little specs of dots, I think its brushing put to layer mode dissolve
