How do I go about choosing a Poker/Casino Affiliate?

I don't know how to atract the knowledgable veterans to this thread so I hope someone can alert them. My question is this...

How do I go about choosing a good affiliate or group of affiliates to use for a poker or casino site? I'm setting up my first and I could use some good guidance/general rules. I heard some affiliates have site templates...is this true and does it cost extra? Is there an advantage to designing the site yourself? I don't expect you to give away ALL your secrets but a few would be appreciated. :lol:
