Anyone gracious enough to take the time to appraise? I was told very low $X,XXX, but after reading a great deal about .us, I am not sure that this extension has quite taken off at that price point yet. Any advice is appreciated. TIA!

Well, if it were syndrome, you'd have a better chance. I had to look up your spelling and found it's the name of a heavy metal band ... which makes it a liability ... which puts it at <$0 in my opinion. You may find fans who want it, but I believe the band has the rights to the name. Sorry.

Should I try to sell it immediately? What would you do? Thanks for alerting me to this. I actually reg'ed the name from watching the incredibles (syndrome was a main character). But I suppose that doesn't matter whatsoever. Well, that's my luck.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my name, btw. You're the very first one to give me an appraisal on a name here-too bad it was bad news, lol.

Syndrome the main character? Come on. :) Great movie, nonetheless.

I hesitate to give advice on the name as I'm not in a position to give legal advice, but if I were in your situation I wouldn't park it or do anything that would benefit you in any way. If your registrar allows for the five-day taste - and you're still within that window - delete it. If not, let it drop next year. If contacted by the band or their reps - a big if, I admit - simply hand over the name, explain your thoughts behind registering it and apologize. I seriously doubt they'd pursue any action.

And use this as a relatively inexpensive lesson when purchasing domain names.
Good luck.

edit - Syndrome - A main character ... not THE main. I misread, and you're correct.

A good way to decide is this. Look at domaintools.com

http://whois.domaintools.com/sindrome.us

in this case, the com/org/info are all parked. biz is still available.

The .net is actually developed, but the product doesn't look like it has much value to transfer over to the .us. looks like the name of a defunct heavy metal band based on a google search?

From the above, and it not being a real dictionary generic work, I don't think it has significant resale value in the .us TLD unless you can market to a fan. It might still be above reg fee, but hard to find that right buyer. I'd still try to sell, but think hard about renewing. I don't think it's worth 4 figures though.

Thanks for all the info. I did look up the other extensions and saw that they were taken by different owners, so I don't think that there is going to be a big deal concerning this. Though I have decided to direct my attention to other areas. I will try to delete it if my registrar allows for tasting, and if not, I'll let it drop next year.

Lesson learned. Thanks everyone for the info.
