Hosting for Site with 300GB/mth transfers: Suggestions Please

Hi NPers...

We just acquired a site that is currently hosted at TRANSNEXIS.com & we're considering getting the following package there:

VPS:30 plan which includes:

- 30GB diskspace
- 450GB transfer
- 768MB guranteed memory (3GB burstable)
- Costing: US$100 per month

Q: Can anyone share opinions / experience regarding:

1) TransNexis.com- is the deal above good?

2) A highly reliable host with fast email response for a site which does 300GB transfers a month

3) Links to any good web hosting directories which compare different hosts with user feedbacks etc.

Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.

I have never used them before as I am my own host in other words.. Thier website seems to pretty professional and it shows that alot of work was done because it allows you to view it in 3 languages.

Where did you see the language selection? :-/

GoPaddy, you can contact their support to see the response time. I'm sure they wouldn't mind and IMO that's one of the main things to keep in mind when choosing a host.

It seems a bit cheap, but not so cheap I would call shenanigans on it. If you're actually pushing 450GB of transfer per month you might want to consider a dedicated server rather than a VPS. For around the same price or a bit more you could have the server to yourself, and possibly better performance.

I'm struggling with this kind of question on another host right now. We're looking at moving over to mosso.com. Their pricing looks too good yet they appear related to Rackspace who has a good rep and are supposedly focused on designers. Does anyone have any experience or insight with them?

Thanks,

Bill
