Host from own computer?

I just wanted to ask if anyone actually knows how to host yourself from your own computer. I haven't really searched the topic but I do know that it is possible. (I mean setuping up cpanel and everything)

Have a goot provider, cable won't do it (business line might, if having port 80 is allowed by the ISP)

Then, install apache and configure the the config.

If you can afford cPanel, then you should surely be able to afford a host for $10/month. :lol:

LoL, I know! But I have 3 computers and I dont use 1 of them. It has a huge harddrive and I just wanted to host from it. What else could I do with a good computer besides letting it sit there?

Well using your own pc for hosting isn't very good idea unless you will host only some not important webpage, which doesn't have to stay online for most of the time.

You could use your pc for i.e.:
Ftp server
Game server
irc server
etc.

Well.. have fun!
