Hi, I am not anyone important I just came to this website after I read an aol news story about the web, and I thought maybe I would find out what other people were doing. The most I've officially done on the internet is sell stuff on ebay and half.com... I know someone who is a web designer though, and after discussing an idea for a website and getting paid to do some things for one of his websites (sorry if too vague) I got interested in making my own website. I have absolutely no hands on experience writing code for websites or selling them. What is it that makes all of you want to be involved with the web?

The web is the next evolution to the real world. More and more people are going to the web. owning a domain name is like owning real estate in the real world.

Oh yea and there is a whole lot of money to be made online.

Hi Overfillings,

Most people you'll come across on Domain forums are here because they're interested in "virtual property." Much like physical real estate, domains can be purchased and sold, and even traded as investments.

Sedo.com offers a lot of information about the domain industry. You might also want to check out www.dnjournal.com, or www.parkquick.com for information about the industry as a whole and for helpful links to resources. Another good resource would be the Internet Coporation for Assigned Names and Nummbers' (ICANN) website, www.icann.org. And, as always, Wikipedia could provide some valuable details that others may forget to share.

I encourage you to ask around for the knowledge the domainers here possess. Alternately, if you need help with anything, feel free to send a PM!

Have a great day, welcome, and good luck!

Always,
Keith
