Hello! This is my first post, so I will use the template :) [disclaimer: I followed the template for 1/2 a sentence, lol]

I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology but since the age of 13---I couldn't stay away from the internet. I had to figure out a way to weave it into my life. The first domain I bought was MySpaceFame.com -- then FameAnarchy.com in 2009-2010-ish. I thought I could keep the name forever when I bought it--however, that wasn't the case, lol... The domain names got snatched up. My third domain was PlanBetterAndWin.com. I bought that domain name when I entered Charlie Sheen's social media intern contest on Twitter back in 2010, lol... I was a runner up but my last task was to create a video, which I had no clue how to do at the time. I bought my first two domain names to develop websites. I have been buying domain names and developing them ever since... it's pretty addicting.

I came to NamePros like 5 years ago around 3 years after I bought my first domain. I found this forum and realized that buying domain names was a "thing." However, I really never wanted to let my domain names go although I flirted with the idea several times over the years.

So here I am, in 2018-ready to sell some domains. I have to say the process is somewhat overwhelming, but I am familiar with it. My friends and family think I'm crazy bc I have bought to many domain names over the years, develop websites and brands and jump to another project. That has been one of my major pitfalls. Developing these websites that people actually love and then leaving them for my next 'big idea.' I have jumped around in this internet world from buying domains, developing websites (using SEO and other means), creating social media followings, designing the sites to writing content, to creating YouTube videos and the list goes on. I have never settled down to actually make real money --- and if I did start making money, I'd abandon the project for one reason or another. It's been frustrating that I have not been able to give these domains the attention they deserve. I'm self-taught so this journey has been a chaotic and confusing one at best. I've learned from reading/watching various communities over the years. It was only recently that I realized that people aren't just running into communities, asking questions and leaving.

So---I decided to stop for a second, join a community and take the time to ask the right questions. I'm ready to sell my domains. I believe they're pretty good and I've already written down all the stats I need to get an appraisal or to start selling.

However, it's very nerve-wrecking as I have attachments to the domains from the work put into them. I've had people at my registrar kinda shocked when they look at my account and compliment me on the names. From all of the industries I've been in --- website development, writing articles, creating YouTube videos, design, etc.,I resonate much more with buying domains. It may sound odd, but I get a rush when I think of a great name, check the availability and register it, lol. I've literally had to shut my brain off over the years so I would not be tempted to buy any names. I have great intuition and foresight when it comes to spotting trends... as in 2009, I bought MySpaceFame and FameAnarchy---I spotted "social media influencers" before anyone at the time. I just feel like this is my thing and I need to pursue it.

So...here I am, in 2018, 8+ years later --- finally ready to do this.

Hi there @anchor .. and welcome to NamePros! :)

Nice intro! I'm a bit like you in that I had a website looooong befor eI even though about domaining. Over the years I've bought domains, that while I certainly did think had value, I didn't actually buy to resell, but instead to eventually develop. Aside from my first huge site, I really haven't done much since .. which is why I'm now focusing on domaining.

I think your experience actually being an end user of domains and developer will give you a huge advantage in the domain game. Too many people register names that will never actually be used for a multitude of reasons. Just be careful with regards to trademarks like with MySpaceFame! ;)

Also be weary of registrar employees who tell you your domains are great ... some of them just say that to be nice .. and others are saying that in comparison to the vast oceans of garbage domains registered out there (have you seen the domains being dropped and going to expiration auction each day at GoDaddy .. 95%+ are truly worthless garbage .. 99% are unsellable .. lol

Best of luck to you going forward.

Interesting... yeah, my first thought when purchasing is how useful it would be for others. MySpaceFame was my first one, it expired the first year and I never renewed, lol... I remember someone saying something about that in 2010 and so I changed it to FameAnarchy. Another one I don't have, ha. And that's interesting about the registrars... makes sense. Thanks.

Yeah .. Not only is FameAnarchy not a TM issue (or at least not an obvious one .. lol), but it's actually a much better domain! One of those names with 2 words that don't belong together in theory, but in actually do work together in a cool way! :)

Honestly .. I think the best advice I could give you is do nothing .. lol .. take a couple of days to absorb an initial wave of information here at NamePros and other sources of domaining info. Read appraisals for domains similar to yours .. go see auction listings for names similar to yours. Regardless of what you do, make it a more informed decision either way ... because regardless as to how much you already know about domains, you're first few days at NamePros will always teach you more. Then figure out what you want to do. Personally I'm in it for the longer run .. so not interested in quick fire sales ... but at the same time I do have WAY too many domains .. so I do wholesale domains from time to time.

I know... but it's gone :*( lol... Can you check out my domains in the appraisal thread? Working up courage to post, lol... or should I go to the sell domain thread? Are buyers influenced by the appraisals here? :/

They can be ... hard to say since I've never really noticed .. but I'm thinking a domain that would get bad comments wouldn't likely have sold high anyways.

If you're looking for anything close to retail values for your domains, then you definitely do not want to sell them here. Put them up for sale at NamePros only if you're ok with selling them at wholesale pricing.

It all really depends on if you're in it for the short game or for the long haul .. and obviously most importantly .. on the specific domains .. lol
