Help using Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004

I have a graphic which i crop and set as transparent background after that I exported it as a gif image but if I wanna put it on a color background it gives me white lines surrounding the logo and that looks bad. Does anyone knows how do i correct this problem in fireworks mx 2004???

Could we see a screenshot of the "errored" image. That might help us understand it a little better.

But if what I'm thinking, is right, then you have the image linking to a page or site, and you didn't add the border="0" code into the <img> stuff.
