Hi,

I am Varun Varadarajan from India, A 3rd year student of Visual Communication. I am quite creative and I design logos, advertisements, visiting cards, brochures, newsletters and In-House journals, magazines and even package covers. I am looking for a freelance job. I also do the content writing. Can anyone help me as to how to start my career as a free lance logo designer?

Well, first of all, you should definitely open up an online portfolio displaying any work you've done. Use a free place to host your site, or buy hosting and a domain name. Then, you can advertise that to anybody that may be interested in your designing services. Trade/buy links from relevant blogs, with high PR. Do some SEO on the site, as you would do with any site.

You can also advertise services on forums that have the right sections. I just joined here, and haven't checked yet if they have a marketplace. If they do have a marketplace here, go post there.

Agreed with the post above, you definately need to have your own website with your portfolio to display your work and earn credibility.

Then just google for "freelance logo work" or a variety of other keyword searches, because there are literally dozens of freelance sites that you can get work from.

Don't overlook your neighborhood either, some companies may be looking for a logo design.

A couple good places I've found to get freelance work is mainly on forums, Elance.com, GetaFreelancer.com, Rentacoder.com - all great places to get design jobs.

You can learn just about any programming language at http://w3schools.com - check it out.

There's a site called "Good Tutorials" they have tutorials for most things there.

There are a lot of places from where you can try your carrier.
Some of them are getafreelancer, elance... try them out
