I am thinking about making a url shortening site and choosing the right domain name.

NiceURL.net - easy to remember
NiceURLs.com - dot COM
URLAY.com - brandable

Please vote for the best name for a url shortening site.

P.S. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. :)

can you please add "none of the above - they are too crappy for anything web related including shorteners but not limited to" option...

you may want to quickly review what domains biggest/best shortener services use and why (hint: they are short)

t.co
goo.gl
no_url_shorteners
no_url_shorteners
x.co
no_url_shorteners
etc..

i'd reg/buy 3-1 char name in any sane ccTLD for that purpose.. $200-300 budget would suffice

ps. in what way is URLAY brandable - "you are lay"? meaning what?

I agree with 4pm.
None of them are worth it to make into url shorts.

You really need a SHORT domain for that type of service.

Try again.

I like short domains x.co, no_url_shorteners, t.co, etc.., but I'm not a Google, GoDaddy, Twitter, etc... I need a keyword domain (.com/.net). Keyword-rich domain is an important factor of Search Engine Optimization.

For example:
miniurl.com
tinyurl.com
snipurl.com
shorturl.com
clockurl.com
decenturl.com
moourl.com
fwdurl.net
tighturl.com

miniurl.com
tinyurl.com
snipurl.com
...

These aren't that keyword RICH, in my opinion.
Exact match is what really matters for SEO.
These domains probably are not popular search terms.
They were brandables.
If there are searches for these, its because the service got popular first.
So get the best you can afford and make a really solid service.
Then publicize your name in many different ways.
Goog is trying to destroy SEO anyway.

NiceURLs might good for selling domains (portfolio).
Urlay makes me think of teen sex.

Sorry but this is not true; not anymore.
There are more than 200 criteria that contribute to seo and ranking and many of them are way more important than EMDs. Like unique content & social media for example

@RU : I pm you

You misunderstood my comment.
I was addressing RU's comment about "keyword rich" domains.
Ie: if you want any SEO effect from a domain, exact match is more likely to help than partial match.
I was not trying to say that EMDs are all that matters. :)

None of the above.

If you want to build a URL shortening site you should set an example. i.e., short domain.

All the example above is long IMHO.

Of the three.. I choose the shortest.
URLAY.com - brandable
