I am new to the domain world but I have a few and do not know if they are worth anything at all. Any info on value would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What makes a domain valuable

What makes a domain valuable? Other than the length I mean?

Domains are valuable depending on the buyer. Most buyers are looking for keyword names that work well together. The more words you add to your domain name, the less likely it will be bought by someone else.

1. Stick to one word and two word domain names like, domain.com or domainname.com. Just make sure they make sense together. Don't register giraffevans.com or milkpanels.com

2. Don't go registering trademark names like nascarraces.com or microsoftdisks.com (lawsuits can happen)

3. Usually, the shorter the name, the better.

4. No one wants to type in wineafficianado.com because it is hard to spell, and you will most likely end up losing traffic to sites that have similar spellings.

5. Last but not least, do some research on the names you are getting ready to register. Typo's and misspelled names are sometimes okay as long as they are not too long. If the name hasn't been registered, sit back and ask yourself......why?

My suggestion to you would be, look at the auction threads and different auction sites. You are better off spending $200 on one or two nice names, then registering a bunch of bad ones.

Is it better to buy domains to keep for traffic or to re-sell?

I also heard about buying domains as soon as they expire? How do you do that?
