Good morning,

I suppose this is the place where we post the 1st thread.

ok.. my name is Helmuts, I'm married (happily), with quite a lot of daughters, live in the UK and originally born in Latvia (eastern Europe).

I have rebranded myself as a domain developer and "Sunday investor" after working as a website/graphic designer and my main interests are: .co.uk/.uk and .com domains only.

.. yes, I have a day/night job, that isn't connected to internet - made a decision lately to get out (partly) of this always changing world :)

the latest domain dropped: satanic-bible.com ... :)

Have a productive week,
Helmuts

Hello, Helmuts

thank you :)

hmm... are .info-s still good?

.. I still have breastpumps.info and breast-pumps.info :) ... hand-registered them for less than $5 recently to test out .info waters :) .. never started trying to sell them though :/

is flippa the best place for them?

Hello Helmuts and welcome here.
.info can still be good, if you have strong keyword domain names, there are several recent $x,xxx sales .

While breastpumps.info could have some kind of value (but not quite much imho), breast-pumps.info is killed by the hyphen.

Flippa has been recently the best marketplace for .info domains, so you can try.

the hyphen domain is just to sweeten the deal (the added bonus).

thank you @matrigaldo for a suggestion - will test the flippa waters sailing an 'info' boat :)

I see your auction.

$750 for a geo domain of town with 1,500 population is........ well, too much is a euphemism ;) but good luck!

well, it is a reverse auction after all :)

.. I believe that some good movement will start when we will be half-way down. .. what do you think?

Still, a very small town, unless very few exceptions, are totally unknown at most, and even between residents i don't think there are a company there interested in associate its name with their little, insignificant, unknown town, it's common strategy for small companies in very small towns being associated to biggest name, city or countries, just to give an exotic or important touch to their style.
You would never see Bonnots Mill Burger or Bonnots Mill Car Wash, but you can certainly find New York Burger, Las Vegas Car Wash, and so on.

I don't want to be rude or too much critic, i hope my observation would help you in the future.

At the moment what i can suggest is to manually look for companies and businesses located there, and try to offer them the name.
Be polite, kind, send personalized email, and use a very simple pitch. And lower your expectations.

oh, c'mon.. constructive critique is never rude :) .. thank you for sharing your thoughts.

yes - I absolutely agree that finding an end user is the best tactics, but in this case this is like a quick "portfolio" sale for "wholesale" prices that are determined by the today's market. My target is other domainers who can add their cut and resell these domains for much more.

have you ever tried to list reverse auctions like this one?

After reading the postings in this thread, I sure would to welcome you the the forum Helmuts Meskonis! Just to throw in my two cents (pence?).. Since I been using my cellphone, been avoiding buying hyphens and or Alpha/Numeric names..hate the extra step (of using the "?123")

Hi there, thank you for a welcome message :)

Well, I hate hyphens as well, but I think that most end users don't give a sh*! except if they are buying premium domains :)

.. just curious.. you have a 'vip' badge.. wtf is that? .. sorry for my French ;)
