you can suscribe to a thread just before you post. there's this box which has 'additional options' and one of the options allows you to change your thread subscription.

as for your second question, you can find hacks/modules for that. and example would be http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63793. i'm not entirely sure what namepros.com uses.

btw, if you want help, you should post your questions in a more relevant section, instead of the welcome center.
