Hey, do any of you guys actually check the OP and see that it was auto closed? Or check the thread to see what's been said (where you would have seen that its discussed as being auto closed)?

Or is it just about the likes, and not the person you are welcoming? i.e. who cares if you are welcoming someone who is not actually there?

You are completely on the wrong tangent. Nobody said "people are wasting their time posting hello's and likes" And I definitely did not say that.

The point is - this account 'YR1' was AUTO CLOSED. Because it was a BOT. So people are saying Welcome without checking this. So they are Welcoming a NON ACTIVE anymore account. Like welcoming an empty door. Do you get it now?!!

It just seems weird to call people out on their attempt to welcome someone. Who cares if it is mistaken? Why would you waste your time trying to make someone aware that their attempt at being nice may fail? Did you expect people to give you likes?

Oh boy. Stop putting your misinterpretation of things down as 'the point' and then making an argument of it. Its straw man arguing. I feel bad having to defend the positions you put me in, because, they are not my positions. They are from your head. So I wont. The reason I posted wasn't anything as you misinterpret. I believe in welcoming people. Which is why I posted. Because the people who don't look at the top of the thread or read it and simply put in their 'Welcome to' message, aren't being Welcoming, as they are not even looking at the person they are welcoming.

There is a trend here to 'fish' for likes. The unspoken game is, you welcome a new member and then click 'like' on everyone else's post in the thread. They do the same for you. It is a unspoken 'like' building mechanism here at NP. So some people who do this, completely don't read the thread at all, and simply fish for likes, by cutting and pasting their same welcome message onto the thread. These are not being welcoming at all. They are simply fishing for likes.

So if you are fighting for people to be nice and welcoming, then you are on the wrong side. I am the one calling people out, to stop fishing for likes, and be genuinely welcoming. To genuinely welcome new members by actually LOOKING at their hello post. Then GENUINELY welcome them. If they were doing that, they would have seen the account was auto-closed. That's what I posted. Do you get it now!!

I have absolutely no idea what you mean by using this phrase. Look, you have been off tangent in all three of your comments. Now an obscure reference to try a late save isn't going to work for you. Likes isn't important to me as shown by me revealing like fishing in this thread. I'll get no likes for it. So a fourth misinterpretation from you. Jeez! I have given enough time to clarify things for you but I have no more time for you.

I do however salute you standing up for being welcoming and nice. But you pitching your lance at me to do it was a bit of a Don Quixote moment. As that is what I was doing also. I'm going to leave you now, so you can go charging at some more windmills.

I sign into Namepros on mobile, check out my "Alerts"..since I am subscribed to this part of the forum..I see this "

I jot down the name..go to the thread..hit post reply.. then welcome and add a image or GIF..then I scroll up and do my thing then I go back to my "alerts"...99% sure didn't see that the account was "Auto Closed" cause of mobile (small cellphone)..pretty sure would have seen it if on my laptop!

No, wasn't all, it was only for this particular thread.

I get your example of seeing the post in small phone screen. So wouldn't apply to you.

The post was literally to say "hey, do you guys know you are welcoming a closed account"

Many also thanked the people doing this despite of comments in the thread saying it was auto-closed. So it makes the aspect of welcome to the OP for those who knew account was auto-closed not part of their equation, with simply the likes being the objective.

Thats fair to point this out. We don't want to stay quiet in a false forum. Sorry you got quoted in this @briguy, as you didn't see auto-closed aspect with your phone screen access.
