Hey NamePros community!
I'm Jason Stepp, and I live in Cleveland, Ohio.
Even though I've been designing and optimizing websites for quite some time, I am a completely new to domaining.
When I want to learn a new skill set, I head over to the best forum on that topic and start participating. This strategy has worked pretty good so far, so I hope joining NamePros will help me succeed in the domaining industry.
I see domains and websites selling for unbelievable amounts of money on a daily basis and I want to get my piece of that delicious pie.
My goal is to start small and start smart. I don't have the cash to go all in right now. Plus, with my lack of domain experience, I would probably lose big-time if I tried to go all in anyway.
Well, that was the "why I'm here" part of my introduction. Now, it's time to tell you more about myself. My heart will not be shattered if you decide to stop right here.
I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I graduated High School in 2002 and decided to join the Active Duty U.S. Army. I wanted to see action, so I picked Infantry as my job. I deployed twice to Iraq (for a year each time), and got out of the military in 2007 with an honorable discharge.
After the military, I pursued an Associates Degree in Marketing. I'm glad it was paid for by the Army, because it was pretty much a waste of time. I spent 5 months searching for a job, but an Associates Degree without experience is useless. The only work experience I have is war. Would you hire me?
I have all of my bills paid off until about February 2011. I have a little bit of cash to play with until then. I'm hoping I can combine my web design/development skills with newly acquired domaining knowledge from this forum to eventually earn enough to not worry about looking for a job.
Yeah… I know… This could be tough, but I'm going to try anyway. February isn't too far from now, so I'm working on a tight timeline, but if I don't at least make an attempt, I have to look for a job anyway. Might as well try and see where it goes.
I'd love to find a mentor who will help me get started, but I would never ask you to take time out of running your business just to help me. However, even if you don't have the time to mentor me, I'd appreciate any kind of advice you can give me, even if it's quick advice.
I look forward to getting to know and interacting with everyone here.
To your success (and hopefully my success),
Jason Stepp
