What did you have in mind when you bought this domain? What kind of business did you have in mind that would be interested in purchasing this domain? I like how random it is...made me chuckle. But I don't see the business potential.

OK, so there's a possible target buyer. However, is a political party a good buyer? I would not expect them to want to spend a lot on a domain name, as they are a political organisation rather than a commercial one.

It doesn't make their company look very professional. Its just looks like an extension that will be used by college students to arrange frat parties

You only have to look at how the thousands of other new extension are doing to get an idea, and some of those extensions are actually well suited for a business (.services, .solutions etc)

I disagree that the target is just people having a party. Party is common in politics also.

I did a quick check and pretty much any political party I could think of before I got bored checking was "taken", so either the registrar is holding them back for premium registration later or most political parties with the exception of the one mentioned here are locking them in to prevent people squatting on them.

No problem, we all have our opinions, there are a few names that make sense and could sell for few $$, like a startup selling party supplies to kids parties could take Kids.Party for instance but it wont be political parties grabbing these names, they will already have their established sites

Have a look at how many are developed now and then look again in 2 years time. All common words relating to an extension will always be reserved or registered, we see that with all new extensions, but they will be registered by the registrars and the rest by domainers waiting for the big score

Check out other obscure extensions and check the WHOIS info on those names

Pretty much all of these new gTLDs are money grabs eached aimed at a particular industry or niche.

Many have very few generic words that fit with them and even a word that fits the extension will only be a good purchase if the use of the extension catches on in any way shape or form.

I find the gTLD market interesting you can be sure that many of the "prime" gTLD domains snapped up initially will drop come first or second renewal time.

Bwin has lot of names with Party keyword : poker party, casino party.
So they wanted to safe guard, a proactive measure, regarding their mother domain Bwin with Party extension

You miss the point completely. The bwin business was sold. The sale had nothing to do with a .party extension. Bwin used bwinparty.com etc before the .party extension came along.
