Hi NPers!

I recently acquired a pronounceable lll.co because I like how it sounds. Also, I noticed a lot of companies use this acronym in their brands, so for instance - let's say the domain in question is "bot.co", then I found companies named Bot Engineering Ltd, Bot Financing, Bot Coaching, Bot Building Supplies etc.

Anyways, to cut a long story short - I messaged the VP of this solar energy company and he replied with "I'm in Mexico. How much are you looking for?" My biggest fear is asking for too much or too little. Some people scare off end users by asking for too much, but then some people leave money on the table by asking for too little. My partner is wanting low $x,xxx but I'm thinking more in the mid $xxx range.

What should be my price quote?

Thanks! :)

IMO aim for US$1500 but be willing to accept half that if they balk at that price

Make sure they understand your quote is in US$ by putting US$ or USD in front of your quote.
Otherwise they might think you are quoting in pesos.

Unfortunately having dealt with Latin American end users for years it would not surprise me that they balk at anything over $200.

For a quick sale, I'd lead with a high $xxx like $850-950. It's a .CO, so I'd count even a mid $xxx quick flip a great deal. IMO.

I think @garptrader is on the money.

I guess you could leave it opened ended so that he knows there is room to negotiate by saying that you are considering offers around $1500 (USD) He might counter with something like $850...more or less. Maybe you will get luck and he might counter with $1000....

Keep us in the loop and let us know how it goes :)

Oh, he's not Mexican. He's Canadian but currently in Mexico lol. I think on a business trip or something of that nature.

Yeah
Why not say something along the lines:

"My partner was looking/wanted to see some mid/high xxxx $ .. but I'm not sure... What do you think?

Wait his response. (Maybe he's fine with that) ..

Hint: You also couldn't be sure if your partner stacked to low.. (if he's fine with that offer)

If needed add: ... but as you are dealing with me now... I'm open to any serious offer ...

.. What do you want to achieve with this quality name? What's in your mind? ...

..let him say that it's a good name and beneficial to his bottom line..

I mean you're the good cop now.. open to any reasonable offer... but can't go back to your partner with a low xxx check. You didn't say that.. but it's obvious.

If it turns out that his offer is something to think about... "call your partner and try to convince him"..

In the end he's happy for a good deal, and you too
:)

Good luck and keep us posted

As seller, you should have a price in mind set especially if you are contacting a prospective buyer.

If you're willing to sell it for $700, give the initial price to $1400. If the buyer said, he/she can afford $800 consider it sold and move on to the next customers. Don't be greedy if you want to stay in this business, there are so many supplies and low in demand.

IMHO

'Don't be greedy if you want to stay in this business'

Could everyone please email the brokers at Uniregistry and tell them that their client is never going to receive $9,400 for HauntMe.com. Seriously.

I also would like to now the .co name in question and how much the Canadian offered. I agree with taking half of the initial asking price, that is a measurable strategy.
