Hi,

Recently acquired this one, just curious what the general consensus would be on a value for it. When I see the name, I think of a site in the vein of LifeHacker.com, cool tips, tricks, stories, etc. Perfect for advertising on shirts/computer accessories/etc.

Thoughts on value, and/or ideas for development?

Thank you,

Justin

I really like it. Not every keyword goes well with -ster but I think yours does. The -ster here dubs a word many might otherwise consider hostile with a universal, accessible tone. Hackster is just as easy to remember as friendster (a premier social networking site) and roadster (the name of multiple car models).

As additional pluses, the .net, .org, .co.uk, and .mobi are taken. hackster.com was initially registered in Sep. 1999 and according to archive.org was an active website dating all the way back to 2000, which means the domain likely has some backlinks and/or gets type-in traffic.

I'd value the domain around $1xx to a reseller and low $xxxx to the right end-user. Development is KEY here. I think your ideas are right on, and I'd be sure focus on the theme of friendly, well-intentioned hacking.

Another potential dev. idea is a meet-up/dating website for computer nerds. As far as I know no such site exists yet.
