Thanks for the reply, Tim.. maybe the solution isn't to opt-out, but rather opt-in to flagged threads.. that way peeps are asking to view potentially volatile threads and if they get offended, then they have less room to complain? Dunno.. I just don't subscribe to the "it's a domain forum" argument, as you know.. General Discussion should mean just that.

Well, honestly... it's 2 things.

1 -- Where does it stop?

Politics?
Religion?
Abortion?
Sex?
Homosexual / Gay / Lesbian?
Drugs?
Rape?
Incest?

2 -- The fact is, people do-not opt out of the breakroom topics. The numbers over the years have shown that human nature... is to come see what's going on, to "rubber-neck" as it were... and then a certain percentage of those can't help but to get offended... then the snowball begins...

But I totally understand your point Dave, and it's completely valid. And we shall continue to be as patient, and open minded as possible. We just have to try and walk that fine-line... because... "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". (Spock said that on StarTrek) :)

Yes, it looks like quite the landslide.

It's the day after the convention, my friend ... check the polls in 10 - 14 days, and after Obama has had an opportunity to clear the record that was severely misrepresented and distorted by all the recent speakers at the RNC, IMHO. :gl:

No worries, in the end this will be a healthy double-digit trouncing! :lala: :imho:

See you soon,

Firstly, I love the irony that it's "factual" to post that Obama and Biden "unite" but it's not factual for someone else to make a similar comment for the other side. Again, you keep saying these "failed Bush policies" and that McCain will be just like Bush...I respectfully request that you back up those assertions for the rest of us here. Practicing what you preach goes a long way. This kind of rhetoric is why these topics break down.

Secondly, I do applaud you that you actually became the first person I've seen to actually come up with an Obama legislative move. Yes, that statement brings sarcasm to the table because he's co-sponsoring a bill that anyone would rather easily assent to in the long run. Not to mention the other guy there has worked on this issue for years. If that alone qualifies you as a nonpartisan and capable of running a country, we're in trouble.

This nonsense about a landslide makes me want to cry as much as it makes me want to vomit. Running your argument off of a poll of maybe 1,500 people to base a landslide on is the most absurd statement here. That's like saying a pre season team ranked #1 has already won their respective title game.

Do you mean that "executive" experience of being in the P.T.A., City Council, and Mayor (of a town of a bit over a thousand) ... or the lengthy 18 months "executive" experience as Governor (of a state with the population the size of Austin, Texas)?

Check your facts - do you either not know them or just like to lie? Yes I am calling you out on this one, bud!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasilla,_Alaska

At the very least 5,000, and not the rather nice growth there. I'd take that executive experience over Obama anyday, at least she has some executive experience, nevermind that she's not the one running for the main spot!

The Dems are chasing their tails.
"Hey let's put up someone who is inexperience but Black, people will vote for him because his skin color will represent the 'change' platform we are running."
"Then let's blast his vice-president pick for being inexperienced (only she's not,she has 16 years in public office, has to deal with Russia and Canada -foreign policy exp., & is in control of the Alaskan National Guard)

DEWEY WINS !!

To assume experience = quality decision making or better decision making is a fallacy. The more experienced person is more likely to be a better decision maker probably when they get into govt, but its not a given, and this is the flaw of that argument. Being black, Obama is getting good and back feedback because of it, but so far, he seems to be a competent man. All presidents have advisers, so no one(not even McCain) would be deciding most of the policies/plans when they get into the presidency. Obama is just sooooo much brighter, talented, handsome than McCain. 1 thing is for sure-McCain will get battered in the presidential debate because what he's supported with Bush over the past 8 yrs have been disastrous, and MANY americans are feeling it...whether democrat or republican

WOW, if that is your reason for voting for someone, then this world is in for some dark days.

Unfortunately, that's how people have been voting since the television became mainstream in American households.

The 1960 Presidential debate between Kennedy and Nixon is the classic example taught in Political Science. Those who heard the debate on radio thought Nixon had won, those who saw the debate on TV thought Kennedy had won.

Thanks for the clarification on the population of teeny Wasilla ... 5,000 versus over 1,000 ... which doesn't mean anything insofar as her experience and capacity to be - literally - ONE HEARTBEAT away from the Presidency, in my view.
The rushed vetting process is now showing its cracks, as well! :guilty:

Regarding the double-digit landslide humble persoanl projection ... like everything else here in the friendly "Break Room", this is my humble opinion IMHO. As the days and weeks pass leading up to Nov. 4th, I think you will see broadening support for Obama/Biden ... in part, because McCain has done nothing to address and solve the one topic that everyone is concerned about; the current state of economic affairs, and - FACT - cranky McCain has supported Bush's failed policies over 90% of the time in the dreaful last four years for our country! :gl:
Tick. Tock.

Another FACT ... Obama received over 18,000,000 votes in the primary and has thus been vetted completely by the people and the press, and has years and years of service and experience as an active community organizer, state senator (check the population in Illinois), and U.S. Senator (population, I believe, over 280,000,000).
As CEO of his own national campaign alone, is more experience and budget than little Wasilla! She has been a Governor of a sparsely populated state for less than 18 months, as well.

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions, as well.

 Straight off of the Democrat talking points.

As a former deputy campaign manager for a member of Congress, I know how much work on the budget the candidate does - absolutely NONE. When Obama said that he's got budgeting experience because of his campaigning for president, even Democrats laughed aloud.

If we think about it, Obama has spent more time in a church listening to anti-American rhetoric than working on a state budget. He has also spent more time smoking weed and doing cocaine than he has leading any sort of military unit.

Jeff, you always make me smile, even when we disagree

This is why I love #1 NamePros.

I actually heard a familiar Republican surrogate state that Palin had more foreign policy experience ... because her state of Alaska was physically closer to Russia! :p :snaphappy:

Weed is good ... I'm against coke, though! :music:
