Alright, I'm a college student, so I'm poor, tired, and don't have much time.

But the disaster is incredible. All you have to do is read a few articles on CNN to figure that out.

Possibly thousands dead in New Orleans alone.
Evacuation beginning to get people out of the Super Dome.
Both leve systems breached, and water flooding the city.
70 deaths reported in Mississippi, with the gov. predicting it to go into the hundreds.

Let's brain storm a bit, and try and get involved, as a NamePros community to SOMEHOW help with relief.

Gotta go, but I'll be back later....

Let's brain storm a bit, and try and get involved ...

Let's donate some Paypal :$: monies - cumulatively as a community - to the Charities / Organizations that are on the "front lines" with this whole unfortunate act of nature and currently assisting those who are in DEEP need of immediate action, IMHO.

Which Charity(ies) / Non-profit's do you folks suggest? Where are our donations likely to have the most urgent need, impact IYHO's?
Time is of the essence.

Thanks for the post(s). :hearts:
God Bless.

The organization that I donate to is religious in nature, but I CAN guarantee they are one of the leading "money-use" organizations, with something like close to 90% of all funds donated actually get to the people they are intended for. The rest is for administrative costs - as any organization would have.

World Vision is the name, and they are located at www.worldvision.org

Another organization, I don't know their percentage of $$ donated that actually gets to where it's intended, but the Red Cross is very well known.

Yeah i suggested a ribbon. The Red Cross is probobly the best one. They already send their workers and help to the infected area.

Thanks to everyone who gives to the disaster. As residents of the Florida panhandle we've had more than our share of hurricanes, and boarding up the house has become all too much a part of my regular exercise. We're just 260 miles from New Orleans.

We have given to the disaster victims of the Big Easy, Mississippi and Alabama and I hope everyone who can give does.

Thanks for starting this thread and more than anything else
Thanks very much for anything you can do!

I think its a Great idea ... :tu:

I would also like to say that a lot of people within our community may not have extra money or items to give at the moment - But we all do have a few things in common to Donate ....

1) We have advertising space on our websites to add extra links to the Red Cross ( www.RedCross.org ) or your choice of Assisting organizations and companies. It may not seem like much - But if you Get the message out in your visitors View ... it can help :)
2) Our Hopes and Prayers are Free to give at any time :tu:
