Good morning. I am new to the world of domaining and Name Pros. What a great site!
I have a few questions I should probably post under "Legal" but since I'm a newbie, I'll ask under this thread.
Similar Domain Names - I'm unsure of the issues regarding the registration of a domain name that is very similar to an existing one. For example, "thinkorswim.com" is a very popular site. There is also "thinkswim.com." In my humble opinion, having the "or" in the middle of the domain makes it more recognizable and effective. Would the owner of "thinkswim.com" face issues if they attempted to sell their site? Does it boil down to who registered their domain first and use?
Copyright/Trademark Issues - I see many domains that are a play on popular books, songs, etc. (i.e. "ofdiceandmen.com"). Domains in the adult entertainment industry in particular are rife with blatant rip-offs. I can't imagine how many of these domains still exist.
Thanks in advance for your help. I look forward to visiting Name Pros daily.
